Research, the beginning, surfing the net...making the decision!
I've been working from home at this very desk, in front of this very computer since the beginning of last December. In many ways this type of solitude has prepared me for some of the journey ahead. It has also given me the freedom and time to do much of the research that has lead to my final decision to hike the trail.
Why now? Why...at all? What are you looking for? What's the purpose? All questions that I've been asked over the past 2 weeks since sharing my decision with everyone. I guess some of the answers I may never know but I do know this: 1. it has taken me 16 years to get out of student loan debt. 2. I made some big goals for myself in 2007 and promised myself if those goals were achieved that I would celebrate...in a big way! 3. I turn 40 this year! YIKES! (that didn't have much to do with it other than psychologically feeling like 1/2 my life was over already!) 4. I wanted to celebrate a change of seasons in my life and felt like achieving something both mentally and physically challenging was a good way to perhaps do that. There is something very satisfying to know that my one job for the next 5 months of my life is simply to keep myself healthy and alive (oh yeah and to walk at least 15 miles a day!)
I look forward to reading your posts (please remember that this blog will be read by family and friends alike so be gentle as you respond. Be authentic and be yourself but just remember that folks of all ages will be reading along and enjoying the experience!) I also welcome anyone who has a few days off this summer to come join me on the trail. I'm certain that I will make friends but would also welcome some nice quality time without distraction with you guys! You WILL be missed!

That's cool to do such thing. I hope you'll enjoy your journey.
BTW, I will go to some trip also. It wont be a hicking, but some part of way I'm going to riding on my bike.
I invited to a HR seminar in Ukraine (they read my book and thought that I should be a good speaker :)). I think they'll enjoy my bike :)
Keep in touch!
I want to say 'I was invited'.
